In the centre of Rob Roy country, the Loch Achray Hotel was built in 1870 as a lodge house, although the site has hosted a building since the 9th century when a mill and cottage stood there.

The hotel has 87 bedrooms with dining room, ballroom and bar. The main foyer and staircase have seen an elegant refurbishment very recently.

The Trossachs is one of Scotland's best known scenic areas and the Loch Achray Hotel's position at its very heart is unrivalled.

There are 50 acres of grounds extending to the loch-side and, as a backdrop, Ben Venue rises to over 3,000 feet.

There are forest paths to explore but, for those with a half day to spare, the most rewarding local walk is an ascent of Ben An for a breath taking view along the length of Loch Katrine.

The town of Callendar is nearby and a few minutes away, just over the Duke's Pass, lies the attractive tourist village of Aberfoyle.
