The impressive Loch Awe Hotel lies between the shores of Loch Awe and the towering slopes of Ben Cruachan.

Built using granite blocks and featuring turrets and steep roofs, the hotel is an example of the striking Scottish baronial style.

Built in 1881, the Loch Awe Hotel is one of the great railway hotels of the late 19th century and retains its very own station on the scenic Highland Line to Oban.

The Loch Awe Hotel is situated within the village of Lochawe, which owes its existence to the hotel.

Since opening, the hotel has boasted three extensions and has welcomed a wide variety of guests including celebrities and nobility.

The Loch Awe hotel is located 30 miles from the harbour town of Oban. Proudly known as the "Gateway to the Isles", Oban is a busy holiday destination and ferry port to the Inner Hebrides.

Sharing the Loch Awe shoreline with the hotel is the ruins of Kilchurn Castle. This 15th century castle is open to the public and has been the subject of many photographs over the years.

Another local feature is one mainly hidden from view by being inside the 3689 feet granite mountain, Ben Cruachan. The Cruachan Power Station is a major feat of engineering with 12 miles of tunnel and 120 feet high machine hall, all inside the mountain.

Within a mile of the hotel stands the magnificent St. Conan´s Kirk. Named after the patron saint of Lorn, the building has been described as "the most extraordinary country church to be found in Scotland".
