Loch Awe Hotel 5 Day Autumn Break
First Day - South Scotland
Travel north towards Glasgow passing Loch Lomond, Glen Falloch and Glen Lochy on your way to the Loch Awe Hotel in time for dinner.

Oban
The largest town in Argyll & The Isles, Oban is known as the 'Gateway to the Isles' and is the 'Seafood Capital of Scotland'. Oban has a way of drawing out the romantic side of visitors, with its mists that roll in from the sea, and the hills which overlook the bay. The most iconic feature within Oban is McCaig's Tower, a Colosseum lookalike that stands above the town and offers wonderful views out west. From seafood to whisky, Oban offers a great range of local produce - all well worth sampling!

Cruachan Power Station & Inveraray
Situated on the shores of Loch Awe, lying deep within Ben Cruachan, is one of the country’s most amazing engineering achievements. Cruachan Power Station is buried one kilometre below ground. At its centre lies a massive cavern, high enough to house the Tower of London! Here enormous turbines convert water into electricity – all within the hollow mountain. Overlooking the still waters of Loch Fyne, Inveraray is the most iconic town in Argyll which we will visit after the exhibition. This pretty town was founded in 1745 by the 3rd Duke of Argyll, head of the infamous Clan Campbell. Inveraray is a classic example of an 18th century planned town and the Georgian architecture remains unspoilt.

Isles of Mull & Iona
Visit two of the beautiful Hebridean Islands on the west coast of Scotland. With Ben More dominant in the skyline and 300 miles of coastline there is plenty to see on Mull. After seeing some of the best of Mull’s landscape you will catch a small ferry to the historic island of Iona. This small crofting island is of great significance to the Christian faith. In AD563, Columba and his followers arrived here from Ireland to spread the gospel in Scotland and England. The restored Abbey is home to Christianity in Scotland and is said to be the burial place of 48 Kings of Scotland, including Macbeth. Both Mull and Iona boast white sandy beaches, stunning scenery and many shops selling locally made crafts.
