Loch Tummel Hotel 5 Day Mountains & Mistletoe
First Day
Arrive at the Loch Tummel Hotel in time for dinner.
Christmas Eve
Surrounded by glens, hills and forests, all linked together by the River Garry, Blair Atholl offers beautiful scenery, rural tranquillity and a magnificent castle. This Christmas Eve discover Blair Castle’s 700-year history through the fascinating past of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl. From Mary Queen of Scots to the Civil War, and from Jacobite rebellions to the disaster of Culloden following Bonnie Prince Charlie’s own stay at the castle. Discover how Queen Victoria’s stay led to the creation of Europe’s only private army, the Atholl Highlanders, and the transformation of this unique castle from a strategic stronghold to a Baronial Victorian home. Return to the Loch Tummel Hotel for lunch and games in the afternoon, followed by a complimentary sherry reception, dinner and entertainment.
Christmas Day
It's Christmas Day and today we visit Pitlochry. Pitlochry is beautifully set in Highland Perthshire and has been a popular tourist destination since Queen Victoria made her Grand Tour of Scotland. Dinner and entertainment.
New Year's Eve
This small Scottish city blends old and new together seamlessly. Tour Captain Scott’s famous expedition ship, Discovery, and learn about the 3-year voyage to the Antarctic. You can also venture into V&A Dundee, an international design centre. It will host major exhibitions, celebrate Scotland's design heritage, inspire and promote contemporary talent, and encourage design innovation for the future. Then explore the city centre where there are plenty of shops, entertainment, food and drink. The theme tonight is New Year’s Eve and there will be a candlelit dinner and a Hogmanay party to celebrate!
