Perth and Dunkeld
Sitting on the banks of the River Tay, Perth is the cosmopolitan centre and bustling city of rural Perthshire offering a range of entertainment, shops, cafes and restaurants. Perth was the former capital city of Scotland which was recently made a city again by the Queen in 2012 as part of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations. With a rich history as the Scottish capital Perth is an extremely interesting place to visit. You will also have a short stop in the charming village of Dunkeld. The majestic Dunkeld Cathedral dominates this picturesque Perthshire village. Nearby, walk along Atholl Street's variety of specialist shops or take a walk down by the river, which provides excellent views of Thomas Telford's Dunkeld Bridge.
A visit to the Royal Deeside
Braemar and Ballater lie in the heart of Royal Deeside and are within the Cairngorms National Park. Surrounded by hidden glens and beautiful mountain scenery these villages have long standing royal connections with many of the shops and businesses displaying Royal warrants of the Royal Family. The family are notoriously fond of the Scottish Highlands and this trip offers a chance to explore the area that held so much charm for Queen Victoria & Prince Albert.
St. Andrews - the home of golf!
This famous town is known worldwide as ‘The Home of Golf’ and is also home to Scotland’s oldest university. There is plenty to see and do in St Andrews from wandering the medieval centre with its cobbled streets and narrow alleyways, to exploring the castle and ruined cathedral. The charm of the town continues down to the shore where there are two long sandy beaches which look out to the North Sea.
Aberfeldy, Blair Castle & Pitlochry
Travel through gorgeous glens and majestic mountains to discover a land of natural wonder and deep heritage. Pass by the busy market town of Aberfeldy then enjoy a visit to Blair Castle, home for the past seven centuries of the Dukes of Atholl. There will be a guided tour of the 32 rooms of infinite variety, displaying beautiful furniture and collections of paintings, arms, china, lace, masonic regalia and other unique treasures. Return to the popular highland resort of Pitlochry. A visit to the famous Festival Theatre is worthwhile, crossing the River Tummel by the small suspension bridge. Return to Loch Tummel stopping at the Queens View, a justly renowned beauty spot with superb views along the length of Loch Tummel with one of Perthshire’s highest peaks, Schiehallion in the background. Dinner and entertainment.
Edinburgh
Scotland’s Capital seamlessly blends old and new, making it a fabulous city to explore. The Castle and the Royal Mile are steeped in history and Scottish culture. Holyrood Palace lies in the heart of the city alongside the new Scottish Parliament building and it is the combination of ancient and modern that makes Edinburgh such a vibrant place to visit.
